Mauritania Super D1 bottom side ASC Toulde were no match for Sudanese champions Al Hilal Omdurman on late Saturday evening in their league clash.
The CAF Champions League quarterfinalists had their way in a 4-0 victory, continuing a steady march towards top spot in Mauritania's top flight as Hilal make up matches on the competition. Influential captain Mohamed Abdelrahman opened the scoring with a beautiful curling effort from distance.
It could have been a different story for Hilal after experienced goalkeeper Ali Eshrein was too adventurous early in the second half and committed a red card foul after losing the ball. However, as Toulde attempted to press up high, Hilal were able to break them down with a series of passes before Abdul Raouf fired in from a Jean Claude Girumugisha cross.
On the path towards relegation, Toulde disintegrated in the final minutes. Hilal's towering central midfielder Madické Kane showed his quality on the final two goals, converting a penalty kick before slicing the Toulde defense apart with a perfect pass to set up the final goal from Congolese flank player Steven Ebuela.
Current league leaders FC Nouadhibou won on Thursday to remain three points ahead of Hilal but Le Club Orange have played three more matches than Hilal. Action will continue from the Super D1 with seven matches over the next three days. Hilal have won four of their last five matches, losing to fellow Sudanese participants Al Merreikh a couple weeks back.
