Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman still have work to do to reach the top of Mauritania's top flight Super D1 following Tuesday evening's 1-1 draw with Chemal FC. Fifth place Chemal overcame an early deficit to level the match on the half hour mark to snatch a point off the CAF Champions League quarterfinalists.
It continues to be a matter of time before Hilal overtake current leaders FC Nouadhibou, who are two points clear of Hilal but have played three more matches. Ahmed Salem gave Hilal the lead inside five minutes when he bundled home after a cross caused chaos in the Chemal penalty area.
Hilal are unbeaten in their last eight league matches and are heavily favored to become the leaders eventually as they catch up to the rest of the competition in games played following their CAF Champions League duties.
