Young Africans midfielder Max Nzengeli has conceded being caught up with fatigue as his club continues to push to win their Mainland Premier League title in Tanzania.
According to the Guardian, Nzengeli has opened up on the physical demands of a long football season, admitting that fatigue from consistent game time can affect a player’s performance as the campaign progresses.

He further explained playing extended minutes week in and week out inevitably takes a toll on the body, making it difficult to maintain peak performance levels throughout.
“It’s normal for performance levels to drop slightly compared to the start of the season when you’ve been playing for long periods,” Nzengeli said as quoted by the Guardian.
“When you are on the pitch for 90 minutes regularly, the body gets tired. But I keep fighting and doing my best.”
He added: “I still have the motivation and determination to work hard every time I step onto the pitch.”
He continued: “It’s not only in football. Even in normal life, if someone works for a long time without enough rest, their efficiency can go down. That’s just how the body works.”
Meanwhile, Young Africans are facing injury concerns as they prepare to face Tanzania Prisons at KMC Stadium on Saturday.
Dickson Job, Laurindo Aurélio ‘Depu’, Ibrahim Hamad, Israel Mwenda, Edmund Job, Kibwana Shomari, Clement Mzize, Chadrack Boka, and Prince Dube, are among the players fighting to be fit for the clash.

“Currently, our players are at various stages: some are receiving treatment for injuries, others are away on international duty, while the rest of the squad continues to follow the head coach’s training program,” Yanga media spokesman Ahly Kamwe confirmed.
“While we acknowledge we are navigating a difficult period, the fact remains that we are still unbeaten. We are confident that we will return to our best form following the recent improvements made to our technical bench.”
Despite Simba’s 2-0 against Coastal Union on Thursday, Young Africans remained top with 38 points from 16 matches.
