Stalemates in Mbarara and Nakivubo as BUL, URA settle for draws

BUL FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Mbarara City in a closely fought StarTimes Uganda Premier League encounter at Kakyeka Stadium on Friday afternoon, as matchday three action continued.

The visitors took the lead in the 35th minute through Seiri Arigumaho, but their advantage was short-lived as Ian Amanya struck four minutes later to restore parity for the Ankole Lions, sending the home crowd into celebration.

Despite both sides pushing hard for a winner after the break, neither could find the decisive touch. The result saw BUL record their second draw of the campaign, moving them to second on the log with five points from three games, while Mbarara City remain 11th with two points.

URA FC and Express FC also shared the spoils

Later under the floodlights at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, URA FC and Express FC also shared the spoils in another 1-1 draw.

Nelson Ssenkatuka opened his URA FC account with a fine 17th-minute finish to hand the Tax Collectors an early lead. However, Express’ lively forward Ssenonga Kagawa levelled matters just after the hour mark before being named man of the match for his impressive performance.

Express winger Ismael Alli received a late booking as both sides settled for a point apiece. The result leaves the Red Eagles seventh on four points, while URA sit eighth with three. League action continues on Saturday, with NEC hosting Police FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
