Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo and DR Congo’s Yoane Wissa were both on the scoresheet, but their efforts weren’t enough to stop Brentford losing 3-2 against Fulham in an end-to-end west London derby at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday.

The visiting Cottagers took the lead against the run of play when Raúl Jiménez’s header stunned the Bees in the 16th minute.

But six minutes later, Brentford responded when Wissa laid a pass through for Mbeumo, and the forward fired into the far corner despite Calvin Bassey’s attempt to make a last-ditch block.

Mbeumo spurned his opportunity to put Brentford in front when Bernd Leno dived the right way to deny his 27th-minute spot kick, decided by VAR.

However, two minutes before the break, Wissa ensured he scored the second to give them a 2-1 lead when he prodded home a cross from Christian Nørgaard joining Mbeumo on 19 Premier League goals this season.

In the second half, Fulham substitutes Tom Cairney and Harry Wilson scored in quick succession to hand the Bees their 14th defeat of the season.

Mbeumo has featured 37 times for Brentford this season, scored 19 goals and provided seven assists, while Wissa has logged 19 goals and four assists in 34 matches.
