Algerian side MC Alger suffered a surprising home loss to Sudanese side Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League resulting in an outcry at the club board on the future of head coach Patrice Beaumelle.
The French coach’s stay at the Algerian capital has now become increasingly uncertain. MC Alger convened a crisis meeting this Sunday to discuss the matter. Beaumelle renewed his contract at MC Alger in the summer after club chairman Hadj Radjem put on a huge confidence in the former Ivory Coast trainer.
Beaumelle in his post-match press conference lamented on poor attacking proficiency. "Given the way the match went, we lacked efficiency for the majority of the tie. It doesn't matter whether it's (Andy) Delort or another player, the main thing is to score goals. Today, we didn't manage to do that."
Hardcore fans now expect the club to act swiftly. But Algerian Football followers argue that Beaumelle still needs time to turn the table around.
Reigning Algerian champions MC Alger are second with four points in the CAF Champions League whilst they sit sixth with 17 points, two points shy of Ligue 1 leaders Constantine.
