MC Alger retain Algeria Ligue 1 Professionnelle title

MC Alger are champions of Algeria’s Ligue 1 Professionnelle for the second consecutive season! MCA did not finish their season in the most convincing manner but Saturday’s 0-0 draw with relegated NC Magra was enough for The Dean to confirm their successful defense of the title

The only way that MCA could have missed out on the title was if they fell to defeat at home against NC Magra combined with a CR Belouizdad victory over Olympique Akbou. CRB could only manage a 0-0 draw away from home in their final match played simultaneously with MCA’s finale.

The atmosphere was festive at the Stade du 5 Juillet with MCA supporters packed in expecting their team to confirm the title. NC Magra had plenty to play for as they attempted to escape relegation on the final day but they were dominated by the hosts and posed little threat to score. The suspense remained as long as the score was 0-0 but CRB failed to put pressure on the leaders by failing to win their clash with OA.

It only got worse for CR Belouizdad, who missed out on a place in the 2025-26 CAF Champions League due to their failure to win on Saturday. JS Kabylie won 1-0 at home against ASO Chlef courtesy of Reda Benchaa’s first half goal, allowing the Tizi Ouzou club to leap past CRB into second place to confirm their place in Africa’s top club competition on the final day.

CR Belouizdad will have to be content with a place in the 2025-26 CAF Confederation Cup instead. The Algiers club will face USM Alger in the final of the Algerian Cup on June 28 at the Stade du 5 Juillet to conclude the 2024-25 season in Algerian football.
