Ghana Premier League: Medeama must dig deep at Bechem to retain slim lead

Medeama SC managed to hold on to a slim point’s lead last weekend and they will have to work hard to retain the top spot when they travel to Bechem United.

The Mauve and Yellow are guests of the Hunters in match week 28 of the Ghana Premier League on Saturday at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.

Medeama, who beat bottom placed Eleven Wonders 2-0 last weekend to reclaim the summit of the log, must dig deep to halt the troublesome Bechem United.

Head coach of Medeama, Ibrahim Tanko knows the challenge that awaits the two time Ghana FA Cup champions.

Medeama lead GoldStars by a point

“I think we have to defend as a unit and I don’t have a problem when we have to ball but without the ball we have defend as a unit,” Ibrahim Tanko told MEDi TV.

“And we have to close the gaps and we knew that and [Augustine] Okrah and Annor are very fast wingers and we have to be able to stop them.

“But I think we are ready for that and looking at the training we did this weekend, we are prepared for every situation.”

Kobina Amissa warns Medeama

Head coach of Bechem United, Kobina Amissah has sent a warning signal to Medeama ahead of the game.

“Medeama want to win the league, and we also want to escape relegation.

“They will play from the wings. So, we as a home team, we are going to defend from the wings.

“Because if we are able to cut off their wings, I think we can handle them and even beat,” Kobina Amissah told Bechem United TV.

Medeama are top of the table with 49 points, just one above defending champions GoldStars from 27 games this campaign.

GoldStars on the other hand will reunite with their former coach Stephen Frimpong Manso when they welcome Nations FC to the Duns Park on Sunday.
