Ghana Premier League: “Medeama cannot afford to lose to Kotoko” – Yussif Mubarik

Medeama defender, Yussif Mubarik says, they cannot afford to lose to Asante Kotoko in their week 12 fixture of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The two former champions will clash at the Baba Yara Stadium as Medeama look to topple leaders Aduana FC and Asante Kotoko aiming to close in on the top spot.

Medeama have lost just a game in the current campaign with Kotoko suffering their first ever defeat – a 2-1 loss at Holy Stars on Wednesday in a week three outstanding fixture.

“Our target is to pick a point or three in Kumasi and that is what the supporters want from the playing body in this game,” Yussif Mubarik told MEDi TV.

“So I urge the supporters to follow us to Kumasi because when we see them in the stands we get energized because when we play without the needed support, the task becomes difficult.

Mubarik has been an important member of the Mauve and Yellow since joining them as a free agent after a sojourn with Filipino outfit, Manila Digger Football Club.

He has featured in seven games this campaign but is yet to record a goal for the two time Ghana FA Cup Champions. The 29-year-old’s club experience includes stints at defunct clubs Liberty Professional and AshantiGold, Asante Kotoko.

Medeama sit third on the league table with 22 points from 11 matches with Asante Kotoko in fourth, two points behind Medeama.
