Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has said that he will use the club’s Week 33 Ghana Premier League fixture against Medeama as a dress rehearsal for the Ghana FA Cup final against Golden Kicks.
The Porcupine Warriors will host Medeama in a penultimate game of the season at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday June 1, before wrapping up the campaign away to Vision FC at the Nii Adjei Okraku Park a week later.
With the Premier League title chase looking quite bleak, Karim Zito believes that it is time to fix the rough edges for the FA Cup finals against Golden Kicks at the Legon Stadium on June 15.
“I put importance to my last match before [cup] competitions. I remember when I was with Dreams FC I played against Medeama and exactly how I planned to play against a team in Africa is exactly how I succeeded,” Zito told Kotoko media.
“So I like the last matches before competitions. I like preparing very well to see how my boys will be faring because after the training, you have to put your arcs together and see whether they are going by your systems or your philosophy.
“I know they [Medeama] will come all out, I know the quality Medeama have even though the moment doesn’t favour them but I know they have good players with good sense of judgment and when it comes to consistency, I think Medeama stands tall.
Kotoko are in third on the 2024/25 league log on 55 points, two behind second placed Gold Stars and five away from leaders and regional rivals, Nations FC after 32 matches.
