Ghana Premier League: Medeama retain top spot, GoldStars falter at Karela

The remaining fixtures of the week 27 Ghana Premier League failed to live up to the expectations as giants Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko all dropped valuable points.

Record holders, Asante Kotoko sold out a goalless draw against two time champions Aduana FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park on Sunday.

Speaking in his post-match interview, Kotoko head coach, Prince Owusu praised his players for giving everything in the stalemate against Aduana FC.

Kotoko failed to glitter at Aduana

“Although we didn’t win, I think the boys did their best, and their best has given us the one point.

“We appreciate that more than losing it all,” the Kotoko coach said after the game.”

Aduana head coach, Cioaba Aristica shared some words after the drawn game.

“We limited their threats, controlled the tempo, but lacked the cutting edge in front of goal.”

Aduana keep intensify top four chase

Hearts of Oak’s return to the Accra Sports Stadium was met with a stiffer opposition when they had to fight back twice to draw 2-2 against returnees All Blacks on Sunday.

Both results left the two clubs rooted in third on 43 points after 27 matches cleared in the current campaign.

Reigning champions, Bibiani GoldStars failed to toppled Medeama from the top spot after suffering a 2-0 loss against Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale on Sunday.

The top four has now shaped up beautifully with seven games to draw the curtains down the season.

Medeama sit top of the log on 49 points and GoldStars following in second with just a point less.

Hearts of Oak and Kotoko share the third position with 43 points apiece and Aduana rooted in 5th on 42 points.

Karela United who defeated GoldStars climbed into 6th with 41 points while former champions Berekum Chelsea, Hohoe United and Eleven Wonders occupy the bottom three.
