Mendy voted Saudi Pro League Goalkeeper of the Month

Edouard Mendy has been voted Goalkeeper of the Month in the Saudi Pro League. The Al Ahli custodian won April’s award for his performances, which included two clean sheets.

The 33-year-old former Chelsea goalkeeper is enjoying a superb spell at the Jeddah outfit, and he was instrumental in Al Ahli’s unbeaten run this month. The Royals managed to share the spoils in the Jeddah derby against Al Ittihad, while they beat Al Raed, Al Fayha, and Al Wehda.

Ahli currently sit fourth in the table with 58 points, two behind third-placed Al Nassr. Mendy has started 24 of Ahli’s 29 league matches this season, keeping ten clean sheets.

Since his switch from the English Premier League ahead of the 2023/24 season, Mendy has kept 25 clean sheets – a league record. The veteran Senegalese goalkeeper will now look to carry his impressive domestic form into the AFC Champions League as his side faces Al Hilal in the semi-final on Tuesday evening at 17:30 GMT.
