Inter Miami CF coach Javier Mascherano has shared his frustrations ahead of Saturday’s FIFA Club World Cup game against African giants Al Ahly SC in the United States. The trainer bemoaned the American team’s failure to reinforce Lionel Messi-led squad.

The Argentine trainer said this, as quoted by beIN SPORTS USA, ahead of the opener against the CAF Champions League record winners.

“We are surely facing the most important competition this club has played in. It’s still a young club, but this is the biggest challenge we’ve had,” Mascherano told the press ahead of the match.

“We’ve been saying for two months that we clearly needed to strengthen the squad. After this competition, everyone will have to take responsibility.”

The Barcelona lend said he was banking on stars such as Messi, Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba to see the team through.

“We have the highest expectations with Leo. We always try to support him, to create an environment where he feels comfortable and can do what he does best,” the coach added.

Macherano added that all their opponents at the tournament, including Porto and Palmeiras, had strengthened their squads.

Earlier, José Riveiro, Al Ahly SC coach, declared his club’s readiness for the game against the American club Inter Miami in the opening match of the FIFA Club World Cup. The game is scheduled at 8:00 PM on Saturday, U.S. time (3:00 AM Cairo time and 12:00 AM GMT on Sunday).
