Kaizer Chiefs captain Inacio Miguel believes the team’s early-season success is a result of their improved cohesion and hard work, and he is confident they can maintain their momentum against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The two giants are set to clash at FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening in a highly anticipated Betway Premiership encounter. The match kicks off at 7:30PM (South African time).
Chiefs have started the 2025/26 season with three consecutive wins and have yet to concede a goal. Miguel, a key figure in their defense, attributes this turnaround to the team’s pre-season preparations and a new level of trust among the players.
“We all know they are a big club who play for big trophies, but to be honest, we don’t think about Sundowns as much as we concentrate on ourselves and how we want to play,” Miguel told the media.
“The aim is always to achieve consistency at a good level, and we are in that moment right now. We have to maintain this form and keep on winning.”
He added that while the team respects Sundowns, they are focused on making FNB Stadium a “fortress” and securing maximum points.
“We have a very large number of true supporters who are with us the same through good and bad moments,” Miguel said, acknowledging the fans’ role in the team’s strong start. “Having a good start to the season has pleased our fan base, and we are working our hardest to keep it going.”
