Former Bafana Bafana international Miguel Timm has officially been unveiled as the latest marquee signing for Cape Town City FC, just days into the 2026 PSL January transfer window.
The 33-year-old arrives in the Mother City as a free agent following a brief, five-month stint with Sekhukhune United. Despite arriving in Limpopo with high expectations after three successful seasons at Orlando Pirates, Miguel Timm struggled to secure a regular starting spot, featuring only 14 times for Babina Noko.
Following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract, the experienced midfield anchor didn’t stay unattached for long. The Citizens moved decisively on Monday morning to secure his services, betting on the veteran’s pedigree to stabilise their promotion charge.
Speaking at his unveiling, the former Buccaneers fan-favourite expressed his hunger to prove he still belongs at the elite level. Miguel Timm sent a clear message to the local faithful, promising a high-work rate as the club fights to regain its status in South African football’s top flight.
“We can all be heroes for this city if we all put our minds to it and work well together” 💬

“I understand what this badge means to the fans,” Timm stated. “I know the supporters appreciate players who fight for the club. I promise that whenever I wear this shirt, I will give everything and leave everything I have on the pitch.”
Timm’s arrival marks a busy 48 hours for the club. He is the second major acquisition this week, following the Sunday announcement of Bosnian-Belgian striker Dženan Zajmović.
Zajmović, 31, is a proven goalscorer in local conditions, having netted 12 goals for TS Galaxy during the 2024/25 campaign. After a short-lived spell in Iran with Zob Ahan, his return to South Africa signals the club’s aggressive approach to the January window.
The Citizens currently sit fourth in the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings after 14 matches. With only five points separating them from log-leaders Milford FC, management is clearly banking on the experience of Timm and the firepower of Zajmović to close the gap.
The squad is currently on a break for the 2025 AFCON tournament. They are scheduled to return to action with a challenging trip to Limpopo to face Gomora United at the Malamulele Stadium, where both new signings could potentially make their debuts.
