Miheso bids AFC Leopards emotional farewell after expiry of contract

AFC Leopards midfielder Clifton Miheso has confirmed he will not be part of the squad for the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League season.

According to Miheso, he has decided to move following the expiry of his contract. In a statement on his social media pages, Miheso said: “As my time as captain of this incredible team comes to an end with the expiration of my contract, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. Your unwavering support, passion, and energy have been the heartbeat of this club.

“Through every victory, challenge your cheers and belief in us pushed me. You are the soul of this team, and I’m forever grateful for the love you’ve shown me.

“A special thank you to our former coach, Thomas Trucha, whose guidance, trust, and vision shaped me as a player and leader. Your impact on this team and on me personally will never be forgotten. This isn’t goodbye—it’s a “see you later.

“I carry the memories of our time together in my heart, and I’ll always be cheering for this club. Thank you for everything.”

Meanwhile, reports indicate that former league champions Gor Mahia will be welcoming a new coach in the coming few days. The record champions have acquired the services of former Ghana Black Stars manager Charles Akonnor, who has a wide range of experience in club football management, having handled teams like Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in the Ghanaian Premier League.

The 52-year-old tactician is expected to arrive in the country with his coaching staff.
