Miloud Hamdi appointed as coach for a new Egyptian club

Egyptian club Al Ittihad Alexandria have officially announced the appointment of French-Algerian coach Miloud Hamdi as the club’s new head coach until the end of the current season, with an option to extend the deal for an additional year.

The club confirmed the agreement through its official website, revealing the full composition of Hamdi’s technical staff:

  • Miloud Hamdi – Head Coach
  • Ayman Abdel Aziz – Assistant Coach
  • Ayman Habiby – Assistant Coach and Fitness Trainer
  • Osama Abdel Karim – Goalkeeping Coach

Hamdi returns to Egyptian football after leaving Ismaily in January, when both parties agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent. During his spell with Ismaily, he oversaw 19 matches in all competitions, recording four wins, two draws, and 13 defeats.

His appointment comes at a crucial time for Al Ittihad Alexandria, who are battling to avoid relegation in the Nile Egyptian League survival group. The Alexandria side most recently drew 1-1 with Ismailia Electricity in the third round of the relegation phase and currently sit 10th in the standings, four points above the nearest relegation places.

Hamdi brings extensive African football experience, having previously managed several major clubs across the continent, including Ismaily, Tanzania’s Young Africans, Algeria’s USM Alger, and Morocco’s RS Berkane.

Among his most notable achievements are:

  • Winning the Tanzanian League title in 2025
  • Securing the Algerian League title in 2016
  • Winning Tanzania Cup title in 2025
  • Reaching the CAF Champions League final in 2015, finishing as runner-up
