After guiding Young Africans (Yanga SC) to two trophies in Tanzania, Miloud Hamdi has left the club to sign for Ismaily SC of Egypt.
“A new era, Miloud Hamdi is our technical director,” wrote Ismaily on their social media pages after unveiling Hamdi, who moved to Yanga at the half way stage of last season and helped the team to retain the Mainland Premier League title and lift the domestic Federation Cup.
In the league, Yanga had to wait until the last day of the season to beat rivals Simba SC 2-0 to be crowned winners. They won their fourth league title with 82 points, four more than Simba, who finished seconds after amassing 78.
In the Federation Cup, Yanga came up against Singida Black Stars in the final with goals from Duke Abuya and Clement Mzize handing them a 2-0 victory at New Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
During a recent interview afer the league victory, Hamdi remained unsure whether he will be at the club next season. The French-Algerian coach had been hired to handle the Citizens after Sead Ramovic left to take charge of Algerian club Chabab Riadhi de Belouizdad.
“The future isn’t in my hands; it’s up to the club. I’m here, and we’ll see what happens. But today, I’m just very happy for the players, the fans, and everyone who loves Yanga. I wanted to win something with them, and we did it,” said Hamdi.
At Yanga, Hamdi oversaw 21 competitive matches, winning 20 and drawing just once. In total, Yanga finished the 2024/25 season with five trophies: the Toyota Cup, Community Shield, Muungano Cup, the Premier League, and the Federation Cup.
