The 2025 Mozambique Player of the Year, Luis Miquissone, has signed for Al-Ahly Benghazi FC in the Libyan Premier League.

Writing on his official Facebook page, the 2025 Mozambique League golden boot award winner confirms his exit from UD Songo. He did not stake the contract duration.

The former Mambas star said he will forever remain indebted to the newly-crowned champions for the investment they have made in his career.

“This jersey has given me much more than victories; it has given me a family and the pride of representing Tete Province. Thanks to the Management, my colleagues and the followers for believing in me. I’m off for a new challenge, but I always carry Songo in my heart, ” Miquissone wrote.

The Libyan side has since confirmed the arrival of the 30-year-old former Simba SC playmaker, describing him as a powerful footballer.

“He has power in his shots that are unpredictable. He is here to make the difference. Luis Miquissone officially joins the People’s Club,” reads the statement.

He scored 15 goals last season to help UD Songo to win the title with three games remaining.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star signed for the two-time Mozambique champions UD Songo last season, returning to the club where he won the 2016 Mozambique Cup and the 2017 league title.

Miquissone, who spent time at Al Ahly when Pitso Mosimane was the coach in 2022, has set himself the target of winning the Golden Boot Award.

The winger returned to the Tete-based team after spells at Sundowns, Al Ahly in Egypt then Simba SC and Abha of Saudi Arabia.

Miquissone was also on the books of Abha Club in Saudi Arabia after leaving Al Ahly in 2023.
