A controversial 6th minute red card issued to Rapids defender Jackson Travis left the visitors on the defensive for the entire match at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. Gabon national team star Bouanga drew the foul that led to his penalty kick conversion as LAFC made their breakthrough close to halftime. It was Bouanga’s 50th MLS regular season goal.
LAFC began the second half as they ended the first with Nathan Ordaz needing less than three minutes to double the advantage for the hosts. Bouanga was involved in the build up to the third goal that ended with recent signing Javairo Dilrosun’s first goal for the club.

It has been a difficult past month for LAFC and a stroke of fortune was just what they needed after being humbled at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Bouanga’s goal in a 1-1 draw with Brazilian club Flamengo was the only bright spot as the MLS side crashed out at the group stage with only one point. The 2022 MLS Cup champions also fell 0-1 to Vancouver Whitecaps at the end of June.
Bouanga is a crucial part of the LAFC attack and continues to find his form after a poor start to the season. He now has 8 goals and 5 assists in 16 league games.
