Toronto FC’s efforts to secure back-to-back victories were thwarted by Eric Choupo-Moting’s goal deep into stoppage time for New York Red Bulls in a 1-1 draw from Saturday’s Major League Soccer (MLS) action.

The former Cameroon international showed off his killer instinct in the penalty area with a perfect strike into the top corner following a corner kick. Red Bulls conceded close to halftime but the veteran came off the bench to provide the moment of magic to snatch a point.
It was a celebratory day for hosts Toronto, who welcomed big-money signing Josh Sargent to the club after the American international arrived from EFL Championship club Norwich City. Unfortunately for the debutant, who came off the bench, he had a close view of fellow substitute Choupo-Moting’s strike rather than an impact on the other end.
The 36-year-old forward has made all four of his appearances this season off the bench, with Red Bulls focusing on youth development under new coach Michael Bradley. After ineffective performances from a couple of the team’s young prospects, the Cameroonian could be in line for increased playing time.
But otherwise the youth movement is providing dividends for the club who play their home matches in New Jersey. Two victories to begin the 2026 campaign are now followed by a defeat and Saturday’s draw, perhaps coach Bradley will consider bringing in the experienced forward after he contributed 17 goals and 5 assists last season.
