MLS: Denkey’s spectacular brace gives Cincinnati fifth straight win

FC Cincinnati are on fire after a middling start to the 2025 Major League Soccer season and star striker Kévin Denkey turned in a Man of the Match performance in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City.

The Togolese forward gave the home supporters a spectacle with his second half bicycle kick to move Cincinnati out of reach. Towards the end of the first half, Denkey opened the scoring with a volley after Lukas Engel’s shot was pushed by Kansas City goalkeeper John Pulskamp.

It has taken Cincinnati time to adjust after bringing in Denkey and Brazilian playmaker Evander as their big money attacking signings. However, now they are at the top of the table in the Eastern Conference with five consecutive victories. Denkey has four goals during that stretch.

Cincinnati and Denkey will look for their fourth consecutive win away from home when they travel to face New York City FC next Sunday.
