Cincinnati usurped Philadelphia Union as the top side in the Eastern Conference with a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire.
Evander, the former FC Midtjylland star, was in fine form. The #10 provided a perfect pass to find Denkey so that the Togolese striker could do the rest. Denkey’s 50th minute finish doubled the advantage for the hosts after a moment of brilliance from Evander opened the scoring in the first half.

Chicago made a second half push after going down two goals but failed to level the match after Philip Zinckernagel pulled a goal back with some help from Ivorian winger Jonathan Bamba in the buildup.

Denkey remains in steady form with six goals and an assist in his last nine games for Cincinnati, bringing his total to twelve goals in twenty games in MLS play. He and Evander will look to contribute again for a fifth consecutive victory when the Eastern Conference leaders host Ohio rivals Columbus Crew for the “Hell is Real” derby next Saturday.
