Monday’s encounter between Modern Sport and Ismailia Electricity witnessed the first withdrawal incident of the 2025–26 Nile Egyptian League season, following late controversy that overshadowed the match.

The game eventually ended in a draw, but dramatic scenes unfolded in the 82nd minute when the referee awarded a penalty to Ismailia Electricity after one of their players fell down inside the box. The decision sparked protests from Modern Sport players and staff.

As Eritrean player Ali Soliman stepped up to take the penalty, objections continued from the Modern Sport bench, prompting the fourth official to call the referee over, resulting in a yellow card shown to a member of the team.
