Egypt national team and OGC Nice defender Mohamed Abdelmonem has received a message of support from his father following his recent cruciate ligament injury.

The injury occurred during Nice’s 3-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in Round 31 of Ligue 1 last Friday. Abdelmonem went down inside his own penalty area in the 63rd minute and was forced to leave the pitch.

While Nice has not confirmed the expected duration of Abdelmonem’s absence, cruciate ligament injuries typically require between four to six months of recovery, which effectively rules him out for the remainder of the season.

Abdelmonem shared his father’s message on his Instagram story. The message included:

"A thousand million safety to you, may God heal you and cure you and may you return in a thousand safety and better than before... Be strong and hold on to your dream that you have always dreamed of, and I know that you are a fighter and a warrior because of what you have reached and it is still early because you still have a lot to achieve."

"I know that you want to reach the final limit because your mentality and capabilities allow it. Be strong and remember all the difficult and good circumstances that we have lived together. Be strong for you and for your family and the large masses who wish a speedy recovery to Mohamed Abdelmonem, the beloved of the Egyptians."

Mohamed Abdelmonem wrote about this message: "This is my father’s message to me. Don’t worry, Dad. I will come back better and stronger than before, God willing, and we will complete our dream."

Mohamed Abdelmonem joined Nice at the beginning of the current season from Egyptian giants Al Ahly, signing a four-year contract. Since his arrival, the 26-year-old center-back has made 18 appearances across Ligue 1, the UEFA Europa League, and the Coupe de France.

During his time with Al Ahly, Abdelmonem won several major titles including two CAF Champions League trophies, three Egyptian Premier League titles, two Egypt Cups, and three Egyptian Super Cups.

Internationally, he has earned 33 caps for the Egyptian national team and scored three goals. He was also part of the squad that reached the final of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, where Egypt lost to Senegal on penalties.
