Mohamed Amoura provided a goal and an assist on Saturday for Wolfsburg, who ended a stretch of five matches without a win with a 3-1 Bundesliga victory over Union Berlin.

The midtable club briefly shoved off concerns of slipping into the relegation zone with the result and it was the rising Algeria national team forward who was important in the decisive moments. The hosts took the lead inside ten minutes when the former ES Setif star assisted Patrick Wimmer.

Visitors Union looked more dangerous throughout the match but impressive performances from Amoura and goalkeeper Kamil Grabara allowed Die Weißgrünen to take a 2-0 lead by halftime. The Algerian doubled his team’s lead on the half hour mark with a precision finish into the top corner from Sael Kumbedi’s cross.

Former Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen set up the third goal for Lovro Majer in the 59th minute and that was more than enough for the hosts to hold off a desperate charge from Union in the final stretch.
