Egyptian international Mohamed Elneny, midfielder of Al Jazira, has been voted the UAE Pro League’s Fans’ Player of the Season.
The UAE Pro League’s official account announced Elneny as the winner of the award, which is determined by fan voting. He edged out competition from UAE-Brazilian playmaker Fabio Lima of Al Wasl, and Lucas Pimenta of Al Wahda, who were also on the shortlist.
Elneny featured in 24 matches for Al Jazira this season, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
Al Jazira recently strengthened their squad by signing Egyptian winger Ibrahim Adel from Pyramids, who will now join forces with Elneny at the club nicknamed The Pride of Abu Dhabi.
Speaking to Abu Dhabi Sports Channel, Elneny said:
“I am happy with my first season in the UAE Pro League, during which we managed to win the UAE Cup, and I am sad about the team’s position in the league. But we will learn from that to achieve better next season.”
He added:
“The UAE Pro League is very big and no less important than other leagues. It has players of the highest level and strong teams, and there is no match with a guaranteed result. This makes the competition strong and important in the UAE.”
Elneny concluded:
“I am certainly aiming to win the UAE Pro League with Al Jazira. This is a personal dream for me and a dream for the club’s fans and players.”
The 33-year-old joined Al Jazira ahead of the 2024–25 season following the end of his spell with Arsenal in the English Premier League. In his debut campaign, he lifted the UAE Cup with The Pride of Abu Dhabi.
