As Cameroon headed to the polls, a surreal twist has taken over social media: the face of Egyptian football superstar Mohamed Salah has reportedly surfaced on the country’s official voter list.

At the Ngaoundéré III polling station, an image of the Liverpool forward appeared beside a registered name — one that bizarrely reads like a string of random letters from the “AZERTY” keyboard.

Multiple Cameroonian media outlets later confirmed that the image indeed appeared on Elecam’s official website, the body responsible for organizing and supervising the elections.

Meanwhile, the country began counting votes on Sunday in the presidential election. Incumbent Paul Biya, who has ruled Cameroon for 43 years and is now 92 years old, is widely expected to extend his tenure.
