Egypt international Mohamed Salah has his sights set not only on reclaiming the English Premier League title but also on lifting the UEFA Champions League next season.

Salah made the statement as he was presented with the Football Writers Association [FWA] award – a joint-record third time with Liverpool legend Ian Rush – at the FWA’s annual dinner in central London.

The Egyptian was recognised for his stunning form throughout in the 2024/25 season that helped Liverpool to the Premier League title.

Salah secured the 2025 men’s honour after receiving 90 per cent of the vote from the FWA’s 918 eligible members, making it the biggest winning margin this century.

“It means a lot winning this award, it’s incredible,” said Salah at the event. “I always feel special winning this award, something from the writers is so special. And with that gap between you and the second, it’s just incredible.

“Winning the Premier League and having that impact on the team, I think I said before, I never felt that [much] happiness in the club, that moment where we won the Premier League against Spurs.”

When asked what he intends to achieve with Liverpool in the coming season, the 32-year-old said: “Hopefully to win the league again and the Champions League.” He said.

Across all competitions, Salah has produced 33 goals and 23 assists from 51 appearances so far. His Reds teammate Virgil van Dijk finished second in the FWA vote, ahead of Alexander Isak (Newcastle United) and Declan Rice (Arsenal).
