Mohamed Salah reaches historic milestone and a Premier League record with Liverpool

Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah continued to etch his name into Premier League history, scoring a record-breaking goal as Liverpool defeated Aston Villa 2-0 on Saturday in Matchweek 10 of the Premier League.

Salah opened the scoring in the 45+1 minute, taking full advantage of a costly error from Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, who misplaced a pass straight into the path of the Egyptian forward. With trademark composure, the 33-year-old struck the ball first-time with his right foot, slotting it past Martínez to give Liverpool the lead before halftime.

A milestone for Mohamed Salah:

The goal marked Salah’s fourth Premier League strike this season, following his goals against Bournemouth, Burnley, Brentford, and now Aston Villa. It also sealed a special milestone, as Salah reached 250 goals for Liverpool in all competitions — joining an elite trio in the club’s all-time scoring charts:

1. Ian Rush – 346 goals

2. Roger Hunt – 285 goals

Another record for Mohamed Salah:

Beyond his club records, Salah also set a new Premier League milestone. With this goal, he became the player with the most goal contributions in Premier League history with a single club (276) — matching Wayne Rooney’s tally with Manchester United. Salah’s contributions include 188 goals and 88 assists, while Rooney recorded 183 goals and 93 assists.

Salah now stands on the verge of surpassing Rooney outright, further solidifying his status as one of the greatest players in Premier League history and a true Liverpool legend.

Liverpool’s victory, capped by a second goal from Ryan Gravenberch, lifted the Reds to 18 points and third place in the league table.
