Ghana national team star Mohammed Kudus got off to a flying start on his Premier League debut for Tottenham Hotspur against Burnley on Saturday.
Kudus provided two assists that helped Spurs nail Burnley 3-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the opening day fixture.
In a highly competitive encounter, Kudus and striker Richarlison combined beautifully but the Brazilian’s effort was pushed into corner by Burnely keeper Martin Dubravka in the ninth minute.
A minute after that incursion, Kudus was teed off in Burnley’s half where he swept in a clean cross for Richarlison to bat home the opener.
The visitors came out of their shells briefly when Josh Laurent fired an effort but Guglielmo Vicario came to Spurs’ rescue despite spilling the ball for corner kick.
Thomas Frank’s charges marched into the half time break with the solitary goal from Richarlison.
In the second half, Jaidon Anthony and Lyle Foster came up with a fine combination however, the former’s effort ended up in the waiting hands of Spurs keeper Vicario leaving the home fans on jagged edge.
Spurs doubled their tally in the 60th minute when Pape Matar Sarr sent a short pass to Pedro Porro who located Mohammed Kudus on the right wing. The former Ajax forward wove his way past his marker before unleashing a cross for Richarlison to smash in a sensational scissor kick past Martin Dubravka.
Senegal international Sarr assisted the third, having latched on to the ball in the middle of the park to set off Brennan Johnson who prodded the third goal six minutes after the second.
The score line marks a good start for African duo Mohammed Kudus and Pape Matar Sarr as well as manager Thomas Frank who replaced Ange Postecoglu.
