Morgan Guilavogui nears EFL Championship move after Lens exit

Morgan Guilavogui is on his way out at French Ligue 1 side RC Lens, with the Guinea international striker expected to sign for English Championship side Southampton.

According to RMC Sport, the 27-year-old forward is leaving Lens for England, with Southampton set to complete the signing. Lens coach Pierre Sage confirmed Guilavogui’s departure, saying: “He wasn’t with the group because he’s on his way out.”

Guilavogui featured in just two Ligue 1 games for the Red and Gold this season. He spent the 2024/25 campaign at German side St. Pauli, where he scored six goals in 25 league appearances. The forward is expected to reunite with his former Lens coach Will Still in England. During his time at Lens, Guilavogui netted seven goals after joining the club from Paris FC.

Guilavogui is also among the notable absentees from Guinea’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup African Zone Qualifiers, having been dropped by national team coach Paulo Duarte.
