Mostafa Mohamed slams former nantes coach Kombouare, praises current boss Castro

Egypt international striker Mostafa Mohamed has broken his silence, launching a scathing attack on his former coach Antoine Kombouare, while expressing his renewed motivation under current Nantes manager Luis Castro.

Speaking to Ouest-France, Mohamed did not hold back:

“Antoine Kombouaré is the worst coach I have worked with. He made me think about leaving. I was seriously considering it — if Kombouaré stayed, I would have left.”

The 28-year-old admitted that the Frenchman’s management style pushed him to the edge, as he often struggled for minutes under his reign.

However, the Egyptian striker credited new coach Castro for giving him confidence and having ambitions with him:

“The reason I stayed at Nantes is because Luis Castro told me he trusted me and that we could help each other. This year, Nantes will not be fighting for survival. We want to compete for European qualification. With this coach, who shows great respect for his players and has a winning mentality, we have big ambitions.”

Mostafa Mohamed has already established himself as Nantes’ main attacking weapon under Castro’s leadership, with the Canaries preparing for a tough Ligue 1 fixture against Toulouse on Saturday evening.

Nantes currently sit 16th in Ligue 1, with just 4 points from their opening 5 matches.
