Egyptian striker Mostafa Mohamed restored his fine form in France, delivering the decisive moment as Nantes secured their first Ligue 1 victory of the 2025/26 campaign with a 1-0 triumph over Auxerre.
The 26-year-old needed less than ten minutes to make his mark, latching onto a clever pass from Bahereba Guirassy, then went one on one with the goalkeeper before finishing clinically in the 8th minute. The goal proved to be the difference, giving Nantes three vital points after a difficult start to the season.
Mohamed led the line for 87 minutes. While he only registered a single shot on target, his composure in front of goal made it count, underlining his efficiency in Nantes’ attack.
With the victory, Nantes climbed to 11th in the table on three points, edging just ahead of Auxerre, who also remain on three points but drop to 12th.
For Mostafa Mohamed, it was another reminder of his importance to both club and country, as the Egyptian international will now head to the national team world Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and Burkina Faso next month.
