Mali youth international Moussa Kounfolo Yeo scored for FC Salzburg who rescued a home point from Wolfsberger AC in the Austrian Bundesliga on Wednesday.
Salzburg were stunned very early in the game when Austria midfielder, Thierno Ballo tapped in coolly a ferocious low cross by Maximilian Ullmann with just 7 minutes played at the Red Bull Arena with the result staying the same into half time.
After returning from the break, Salzburg were left chasing for the equalizer with Moussa Yeo coming close with a header. Meanwhile Wolfsberger remained resolute, defending their lines and keeping the home side at bay.
Salzburg manager, Thomas Letsch effected few changes which added some bite upfront with one of the substitutes, Oscar Glouk locating Yeo on the edge of the visitors’ penalty area. The Malian wound past three defenders before slapping the ball at the top left hand corner of the post for the leveler on the 68th minute.
The game finished one all after full time with the goal being Yeo’s 5th of the season from 21 league games. The 20-year-old has been a hit for the Austrian side since joining them from Mali youth club Guidars in 2022.
FC Salzburg are 3rd on the league table with 29 points with Wolfsberger pegged in 4th with 27 points from 27 league matches played this season.
