Senegal’s towering defender, Moustapha Mbow has discussed his ambitions ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, USA and Mexico this year.
In an interview with Onze Mondial, the Paris FC defender expressed aspirations of establishing himself permanently in the national team.
Having delivered consistent performances for his club, where he has become a key player, the 26-year-old believes he has what it takes to rejoin the national squad, having first been called up in August 2025.
“I tick all the boxes to play for the national team. It’s not easy to break in because there are many players in my position.
“But that motivates me to work even harder.
“I think about the World Cup every day.”
Mbow sees his omission from the 2025 African Cup of Nations squad as an additional source of motivation and continues to work hard to reach the next level.
A key player for Paris FC this season, Mbow is putting in a string of impressive performances and hopes that this consistency will convince the Senegalese national team staff in the coming months.
“Given that I’m playing regularly and have the confidence of my coaches, I think it’s fair to say that I’m now a pillar of the club.”
Mbow, who represented the Senegal U20 at the 2019 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, previously played for Reims, Nimes and Seraing on loan.
For this season, has made a whopping 27 league 1 appearances with one assist for Paris FC who sit 13th on 32 points from 28 games.
