Everton manager David Moyes sung the praises of Senegal international Iliman Ndiaye after he scored and played a huge role in the second goal of their 2-1 Premier League victory against Crystal Palace at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday.
The Eagles arrived on Merseyside with a 19-match unbeaten run in all competitions, and they carried on their fine form in the early stages, opening the scoring through Daniel Munoz’s first-half strike.
However, the Toffees fought their way back into the contest, eventually notching a leveller from Ndiaye’s 76th-minute spot-kick. But the key moment arrived in the 93rd minute, when Jack Grealish converted from close range to net his first Everton goal.
Speaking on the winner by Grealish, Moyes paid tribute to Ndiaye, who started the move.
“Yeah, I spoke to [Jack] and congratulated him, and I’m pleased he gets into the right position. But really, it was an unbelievable ball by Iliman Ndiaye and Jai to get to the byline in a tight space, stand the ball up and really Beto should score,” Moyes told Everton website.
“You know, the goalkeeper shouldn’t get a chance to save it, and he does. Thankfully, Jack’s there to get the rebound or when the boy clears it, he, sort of, blocks it in the net.
“For us, at the moment, it was a great victory. Three important points. Going into this game today, we’d only lost one Premier League game in five, so I just felt as if we needed to get it. We keep that going.”
Ndiaye has now scored three Premier League goals this season from seven appearances, and provided one assist.
