Mozambican Mandava closes in on Sunderland move

Mozambican international Reinildo Mandava is reportedly inching closer to signing for Sunderland AFC.

The Mambas star is a free agent after parting ways with Atletico Madrid who decided against extending his four-year contract beyond June 30, 2025.

Now, football transfers’ expert Rudy Galetti reports that the newly-promoted Premier League side will sign the left-back this week.

Galetti tweeted: “Reinildo will officially sign his two-year contract with Sunderland on Monday in Madrid. The deal was fully agreed, as revealed days ago: the player is set to begin his next chapter in the UK.”

Mandava made 103 appearances across La Liga while featuring in major domestic and international competitions such as the Copa del Rey, the Champions League and the Club World Cup.

The 31-year-old signed for Madrid in 2021 after leaving Lille FC in France.

The left-back is set to join the Democratic Republic of the Congo midfielder Noah Sadiki who signed a long-term contract with Sunderland last week.
