Former Mozambique champions Black Bulls FC have parted ways with highly-rated coach Hélder Duarte for failing to achieve all set performance targets.
The Portuguese has paid the prize for finishing the Mozambique Premier League season empty-handed.
Duarte has lost his job a week after Black Bulls missed out on the Mozambique Cup following a 5-4 loss to UD Songo.
Post-match penalties decided the final following a one-all draw in regulation time in Gaza Province.
Duarte also came short of retaining the domestic league championship which UD Songo seized.
The Portuguese also missed the set target of taking Black Bulls beyond the 2025 CAF Champions League group-stage. The Mozambicans lost to Nigeria’s Rivers United in the second preliminary round of the continental league.
The former Moçambola league kings also missed out on Maputo City Opening Tournament.
Duarte took charge of Black Bulls in a second stint. He arrived in Mozambique through Black Bulls’ partnership with the Dragon Force project in 2018, just after their earned promotion to the tier league.
He eventually won the Maputo-based outfit its first-ever Mozambique Premier League championship in 2021.
Duarte clinches again the league title in his second stint with Black Bulls in 2024, a year after achieving a similar feat with Ferroviário da Beira.
