Head coach of Golden Kick Fiifi Parker Hanson has expressed disappointment over their painful 2-1 loss to Asante Kotoko in the finals of the MTN FA Cup.
The Division One club succumbed late in the finals to the Porcupine Warriors at the Legon Sports Stadium on Sunday, June 15. Kotoko striker, Kwame Opoku grabbed a brace with Bless Ege drawing the equalizer for Golden Kick in between those two goals.
Fiifi Parker Hanson said: “I am very overwhelmed and happy with my players’ performance. They showed their class, they showed some character and they were determined,” Fiifi Parker Hanson told the media.
“Just that it’s unfortunate that decision makers made their rule, they put the rule into their own hands. To make history we had to win the game and we played according to how we planned and the boys played amazingly well.
“Everybody was determined to win the game and you can see we showed our class, we came in, nobody knows our players, and they are underdogs. We came to face these giants but at the end of the day the referee gave them the win.
“We are ok that they [Kotoko] didn’t score us plenty but at the end of the day the referee made sure he gave the win to them and this is on a silver platter.”
Golden Kick showed class in the run up to the finals, eliminating record holders Hearts of Oak.
