MTN-FUFA Awards make grand return with new categories, date set

After a four-year break, the prestigious MTN-FUFA Awards are officially back. The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has launched the 2024 edition of the ceremony, scheduled for May 30, 2025, at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

This year’s edition will exclusively recognize achievements from the 2024 football season, celebrating the very best of Ugandan football, players, coaches, clubs, and media personalities.

The awards return bigger and better, with the introduction of a fresh category: MTN Media Personality of the Year, a testament to the evolving landscape of football storytelling.

Launched under the fitting theme “Celebrating Football Heroes, Inspiring Future Stars,” the announcement was made during a colorful event attended by members of the FUFA Executive Committee, FUFA Deputy CEO, sponsors MTN, Nile Special, and Nivana, football legends, and other key stakeholders.

Now in their seventh edition, the MTN-FUFA Awards have grown into a hallmark event on the Ugandan football calendar. The last ceremony in 2021 crowned Bobosi Byaruhanga and Fauzia Najjemba as the Best Male and Female Players of the Year.

The awards initially kicked off in 2015, with Farouk Miya and Sandra Nabweteme taking top honors. With the return of the awards, the spotlight is once again on talent, hard work, and football excellence. From dazzling goals to emerging talent, the upcoming night promises to be a powerful tribute to the game and its heroes.
