AmaZulu FC coach Arthur Zwane has described Stellenbosch FC as difficult opponents going into their Sunday’s MTN8 quarter-final meeting.
Zwane told his team’s media that the playing conditions at Cape Town’s DHL Stadium suit Steve Barker’s men.
“[It is a] difficult one. Stellenbosch are not an easy team to play against. We are playing in Cape Town. They know the conditions where they are based,” the coach said. “So, for us, it will be the case of adapting there and dealing with everything that comes our way.”
Nonetheless, Zwane said he was expecting AmaZulu to build on their sixth-place finish in the league last season by winning silverware this season, adding that the MTN8 presents such an opportunity for a trophy.
“Mentally and physically, the guys are ready, and they know the importance of us going into the next round,” he added.
AmaZulu reached the MTN8 final in 2022 when they lost 1-0 to serial winners and current holders, Orlando Pirates.
Monnapule Saleng scored the only goal of the game for Pirates at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. Since that time, the Buccaneers have gone on to win the cup for the three straight seasons.
