Mukasa takes charge as Buhimba United seek revival in the UPL

Buhimba United Saints have ushered in a new era after appointing CAF “A” licensed tactician Robert Mukasa as their head coach, a move the club believes will spark a much-needed turnaround in their season.

The Kigaaya-based side officially unveiled Mukasa on Friday, December 5, 2025, in a ceremony attended by Club President Eng. Ahuura Julius, who emphasized the strategic importance of the appointment.

Eng. Ahuura expressed delight at securing the experienced coach, noting that Mukasa’s résumé matches the club’s ambitions.

“We are excited to have Coach Robert (Mukasa) on board. His track record speaks volumes, and we believe his expertise will be instrumental to the club,” he said, adding that the new coach is expected to guide the Saints toward greater stability and competitiveness in the Uganda Premier League.

Mukasa arrives on a one-year contract and steps into a challenging situation as the newly promoted side struggles to adapt to topflight demands. With nine matches already played, the Saints sit deep in the relegation zone on nine points, all earned in their opening three fixtures before suffering six consecutive defeats.

Despite the daunting task ahead, Mukasa radiated optimism during his unveiling.

“I’m happy to join the Saints family,” he said. “With my technical team, we’ll build on our points and work tirelessly toward our seasonal targets—growth, discipline, and success on the pitch.”

Experience to build on

Mukasa brings extensive experience, having previously served at prominent clubs including URA FC, Gaddafi FC, SC Villa, and UTODA. His tactical knowledge and calm leadership style are expected to inject new energy into the Saints setup.

His immediate priorities include enhancing the team’s tactical organization, improving fitness levels, and instilling a winning mentality to steer the club away from the drop zone.
