Financial services firm Mukuru continues to invest in football in Africa, with the latest sponsorship of a warm-up tournament for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The invitational competition, scheduled for March 23 to 31 in Botswana, will involve the hosts Zebras, Malawi’s Flames and the Warriors of Zimbabwe.
Ahead of the competition scheduled for Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francis Town, the Zimbabwe Football Association president Nqobile Magwizi, whose body is among the organisers, has confirmed Mukuru’s sponsorship.
Pasuwa has handed maiden senior national team call-ups to defenders Dan Sandukira, Hermas Masinja and Charles Mafaiti, as well as forward Wallace Adam.

“We are delighted to have Mukuru join this exciting tournament as title sponsor. This partnership is a positive endorsement of the work being done to rebuild confidence in Zimbabwean football and to position ZIFA as a credible and valuable partner for the corporate world, both in Zimbabwe and beyond,” Magwizi said through a statement.
Meanwhile, the draw for the weeklong competition will take place on Tuesday 24 March and will be broadcast live on SuperSport, proving its high standard as an AFCON warm up.
Zimbabwe coach Marian ‘Mario’ Marinica and his Zambian counterpart George have since named strong squads comprising the likes of Patson Daka of Leicester City (Chipolopolo) and Tawanda Maswanhise (Warriors) for the competition.
In contrast, Malawi mentor Kalisto Pasuwa has selected only home-based players.
