Vipers SC President Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa has firmly ruled out any possibility of returning to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) as president, asserting that he has moved beyond that level of leadership.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony of his daughter earlier this week, the former FUFA boss dismissed speculation about a comeback, stating emphatically: “Me, return to FUFA? Why do you undermine me? A man who owns a stadium and you want me to go back to FUFA? That’s undermining me. I am bigger than that. Becoming FUFA President again? No. Tell me to go to FIFA, not FUFA.”

Mulindwa served as FUFA President from December 2005 to 2013, making him the second-longest serving leader of the federation after Kabaka Daudi Chwa (1924–1932). During his tenure, Ugandan football saw significant structural changes and his legacy remains widely discussed in the football community.

The remarks come as FUFA prepares for its Elective Assembly on July 5th in Hoima where current Federation president Moses Magogo is expected to seek a fourth term in office.

Meanwhile, Mulindwa also took the opportunity to rally support for Vipers SC ahead of the Stanbic Uganda Cup final scheduled for May 31st at FUFA Kadiba Stadium, where they will face rivals KCCA FC.

“Vipers oyee, Ugandan champions! Sorry for KCCA FC and SC Villa. I’m going to beat KCCA and become a double champion. When we were at Kitara, they were chanting that Mulindwa is a witch. I don’t mind. I am a competitor, a fighter, and a lion,” he declared.

Vipers SC are set to be crowned Uganda Premier League champions for a record seventh time this Saturday after their final match against Soltilo Bright Stars, marking another milestone under Mulindwa's leadership.

The football fraternity now looks ahead to both the cup final and the upcoming FUFA elections, with Mulindwa’s comments continuing to spark debate about the future of football leadership in Uganda.
