Wolves manager Vitor Pereira has revealed his delight at January signing, Zimbabwean Marshall Munetsi, who scored his first Premier League goal in a 1-1 draw against Everton under the Molineux lights on Saturday.

The Toffees took the lead against the run of playing courtesy of Jack Harrison in the 33rd minute but Munetsi gave the hosts an equaliser, before a goalless second period meant the points were shared in the Black Country.

Wolves should have taken the lead when Munetsi rose highest in the penalty box and powered a header low at Jordan Pickford, but the England number one did well to deny the header.

However, Munetsi was not to be denied when Bellegarde advanced the ball to the edge of the area and played a beautiful through ball into the Warriors' path, and he calmly stroked past Pickford to level the game.

“He deserves it. He really deserves it. It was a pity that he felt something in first half and we cannot take risks with him. There was enough time and he asked the maybe it was better to stay out,” Pereira said when asked on Munetsi’s first goal for Wolves.

“But I think he deserves it because he's a player that has this speed that I like in a player. He gives everything to try to help the team, and in the end, he scored the goal and he will score more goals, for sure.”

Another African player, Ivorian Emmanuel Agbadou, also featured for Wolves, and manager Pereira was asked the impact of Munetsi and Agbadou.

“They came to help. They are players that have added quality because they are physically strong and to compete in this league, we need to compete against this kind of team,” he explained. “When we look for the set pieces, when we look for a corner, every time it is a big problem to stop them, and we need this physicality.

“I also like the speed of the players on the bench. They went onto the pitch to help the team, and thanks to our supporters because they tried to help us a lot.”

Munetsi will hope to continue with his fine run of form when Wolves face Southampton in their next league fixture.
