The final day of the 2024-25 English Premier League season lacked suspense but there was still plenty of entertaining moments from Sunday's grand finale. In a 1-1 draw between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford, Wolves and Zimbabwe midfielder Marshall Munetsi's strike left the teams sharing the spoils.
Munetsi's second Premier League goal since joining Wolves midway through the season gave his side an equalizer to put an end to a three-match losing streak. After fighting relegation for most of the season, it was a fitting end to the campaign for Wolves whose midseason transfer spending on Munetsi and Ivorian defending sensation Emmanuel Agbadou saved their top flight status.
For Brentford, the result marks an up-and-down season where the Bees showed plenty of potential but failed to launch a meaningful assault towards qualifying for UEFA club competitions next season. Cameroon national team star Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring in the 20th minute but Brentford could not hold on for a third consecutive road victory.
Mbeumo ends his fantastic season with 20 goals and 7 assists while appearing in every league match for Brentford this season. The Cameroonian finished fourth on the scoring chart only trailing Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak and Mohamed Salah. Mbeumo and Congolese teammate Yoane Wissa (19 goals, 4 assists) scored over half of Brentford's goals this season.
