Former Kaizer Chiefs’ forwards Knowledge Musona and Khama Billiat are on the cusp of winning the 2025 Zimbabwe Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) title.
The duo, plus other stars such as Walter Musona, have transformed Scottland FC into a formidable opposition, ending the dominance of established sides such as Highlanders, Caps United and Dynamos FC.
Billiat led the way when he returned from South Africa to sign for Yadah FC last season before switching to Scottland FC in this campaign. Soon other stars, including the Musona brothers Knowledge and Walter, followed suit.
Now, with an average of two games to the Castle Lager PSL finish line, the rookies sit proudly on top of the 18-member PSL log table. Coach Tonderai Ndiraya’s out are four points clear of second-placed MWOS who have played one game more.
Scottland have 62 points from 31 games, and can take their maximum tally of points to 71 points if they win their remaining three matches starting from Sunday.
Even if the newcomers do not win all their remaining matches, they just need three points to reach 65 points, a tally the rest of the title- chasing pack—MWOS and Simba Bhora—cannot reach.
MWOS’ maximum tally, if they win their remaining two games, is 64 points while holders Bhora can only go as far as 62 points if they collect maximum points from their remaining two matches.
Therefore, with reigning champions Bhora drawing 1-1 draw at home to Highlanders on Saturday, it means Scottland have one hand on the trophy.
All Billiat and Musonas and company need is to beat relegation-bound Kwekwe United at Ascot Stadium on Sunday to be crowned 2025 Castle Lager PSL champions.
The 35-year-old Knowledge is in his debut Castle PSL season as he left Zimbabwe to sign for Chiefs straight from Aces Youth over 15 years ago. Such a move to the Rainbow Nation opened the doors for a further adventure in Germany, Belgium and Saudi Arabia.
