Bul FC goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa is nearing the exit door following the expiry of his two-year contract with the Eastern Giants.

The experienced shot-stopper has been a pivotal figure for Bul, helping the club to solid league finishes in his two seasons with 14 cleansheets this season and playing a vital role in their recent silverware success — including back-to-back FUFA Super 8 titles.

Mutakubwa’s consistency earned him regular call-ups to the Uganda Cranes, especially in the CHAN setup. Notably, he was part of the squad that traveled to Marrakech, Morocco, for international friendlies, stepping up against Gambia in place of the injured Isima Watenga.

Prior to joining Bul, Mutakubwa featured for Tooro United, Kyetume FC, and Express FC, and now becomes a hot prospect on the transfer radar with his next move eagerly awaited.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Bukenya is set to part ways with relegated Wakiso Giants after his contract officially expired.

The midfield dynamo returned to Wakiso at the start of the 2024/25 season following a short spell with Kitara FC. A product of the KCCA Soccer Academy, Bukenya has been central to Wakiso’s midfield over the years, with previous experience also at KCCA FC's senior team.

He now joins a growing list of departures from Wakiso Giants, who have already seen exits including Hassan Ssenyonjo, Tom Masiko, Mulamba Blanchar, and James Alitho.

In contrast to the exits, NEC FC has secured the continued services of forward Allan Mugalu, who has extended his stay with a new two-year deal, dismissing interest from KCCA FC and Vipers SC.

Mugalu, who joined NEC from Arua Hill in 2023, played a key role in their impressive campaign that saw them finish second in the Uganda Premier League and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup. His commitment is a major boost for coach Hussein Mbalangu, as NEC continues to strengthen ahead of a busy continental and domestic season.

The club has already added Daniel Shabena, Warren Buule, and Hudson Mbalire to bolster their ranks.
