Mutapa unveils Zambia squad for Four Nations tournament

Zambia national team assistant coach Osward Mutapa has unveiled his 26-member squad ahead of the Mukuru Four Nations tournament set for Francistown, Botswana.

Mutapa will lead the Botswana assignment in the absence of Chipolopolo head coach George Lwandamina who will be in Buenos Aires for the Argentina friendly.

He has assembled a squad with some standout players from the local league and promising younglings who are expected to form the core of the Olympic campaign.

Mutapa drafted U-17 FIFA World Cup stars

Among the league top performers drafted are Zanaco’s Eliya Mandanji who was at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, Abraham Siankombo, Patrick Chooma and Golden Mashata.

Mutapa has drafted some Under-17 FIFA World Cup stars like Jonathan Kalimina, Abel Nyirongo, Kelvin Chipelu and Christo Chitambala.

The Mukuru Four Nations Tournament has drawn participation from hosts Botswana, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia with draws set for Johannesburg.

The Chipolopolo have been drawn against the Flames of Malawi. During the draws conducted in Johannesburg, the Chipolopolo will square off with Malawi on March 28 at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium while the hosts Botswana will take on the Warriors of Zimbabwe.

Winners of the two matches will square off in the final on March 31 while the losers will face off in the third and fourth match on the same day.

Goalkeepers; Christo Chitambala (Red Arrows), Patrick Choma (Nkana), Luka Mainza (Nkana).

Defenders; Jonathan Kalimina (Kafue Celtic), Headson Paina (Green Eagles), Kamfuti Sausande (Trident), Jackson Phiri (Konkola Blades), Yoram Chanda (Kabwe Warriors), Ronald Chanda Chileshe (Muza FC), Joseph Mulenga (Nchanga Rangers), William Kamwanga (Mufulira Wanderers).

Midfielders; Luka Mutoshi, Abraham Siankombo (both Zesco United), Humphrey Bwembya, Francis Banda (Kabwe Warriors), Patson Kwataime (Mufulira Wanderers), Dominic Kanda, Ian Sindaye (both Zanaco), Kelvin Chipelu (Forest Rangers).

Forwards; Derrick Bulaya (Green Eagles), Abel Nyirongo (Atletico Lusaka), Eliya Mandanji (Zanaco), Bridger Ng’andu, Rickson Ng’ambi (both FC Muza), Elliot Kampukesa (Nchanga Rangers), Golden Mashata (Green Buffaloes).
